Order  Coraciiformes   Family  Momotidae

Deutsch   Dutch  *Blauwkapmotmot
Italian   Spanish

Motmots have tail feathers which look like pendulums which the bird moves from side to side. The barbs near the end of the two central tail feathers fall off during preening or abrasion with substrates and this is the origin of the racket shape of the tail . The juveniles have complete central feathers.
